Puppy socialisation classes feature a mixture of supervised off lead socialisation in our large, secure pen and introducing obedience via structured exercises. Early socialisation is essential to ensuring that your dog develops the ability to mix with dogs of other breeds and ages and can prevent problems in later life. Obedience is introduced by exercises for example, working on walking on the lead, the sit, the stand and coming back when called. We introduce the puppies to new experiences such as our agility equipment and hoopers equipment (Wed & Thurs); we get them going over poles on the ground, through the tunnels and over the contact equipment. There are lots of opportunities to ask questions about common problems such as toilet training and play biting. Puppies can start as soon as they have had their second vaccinations and the vet says they can go out and remain in puppy class until they are approximately 6 months old (depending on breed and maturity). We would encourage you to join in as soon as possible even if it is mid-course rather than wait until a new course starts – with puppies you won’t have missed anything that won’t be covered again, there are plenty of opportunities for questions and early socialisation is really essential in their development.

Adult obedience classes can be started from 6-9months old and cover all common problems in the pet dog such as walking to heel, coming when called, people manners and dog manners. They are a great way to get your dog to focus on you despite the distraction of the other dogs and owners and are a great hobby for you and your dog! Weekend classes feature fun agility using our full agility set of jumps, tunnels, tyre, long jump, contact equipment, weave poles and lots more. Agility is a great way to use the dogs brain as well as body and helps strengthen the partnership between dog and owner. The weekend class is approx 40min obedience and 20min agility. Weekday classes (except Thursday) feature an introduction to agility. For those wanting something to aim for we offer our own bronze, silver and gold standards.

In 2020 we introduced hoopers, a fun, fast, low impact sport to our Deal venue on Thursdays. Hoopers is similar to agility but involves ground level hoops instead of raised jumps and as such is suitable from puppies through to the senior dog and dogs where a medical condition precludes jumping. The aim of hoopers is distance handling so no running is involved and as such it is accessible to all handlers. Hoopers also builds a strong relationship with your dog.
